"The Roots Session was not what I expected β€” in a good way. I thought it would feel formal or clinical, but the coordinator made the whole conversation feel very natural. My husband and I left with a clearer sense of what we both actually wanted from our weekdays together. Small thing, but it has made a noticeable difference."

"We used the Growing Together Workshop when my mother-in-law moved in with us. Three adults, two children, different schedules, different expectations about how a household should run. The workshop gave us tools that actually work. Six months later, we still use the shared calendar system we built that day."

"The three-month programme took some getting used to β€” I wasn't sure at first if the review meetings were really necessary. But by the second one, I could see how much had actually shifted in how my family communicates around tasks and planning. The coordinator never pushed, just kept asking the right questions."

"I'd been trying to get my family on the same page about school pickups, grocery runs, and weekend plans for months. Hearthand gave us a system in one afternoon. The bilingual bit really helped β€” my husband's Thai is much better than mine and switching mid-conversation used to slow everything down. The facilitator just handled it naturally."

"My parents were sceptical at first. They didn't understand why a family would need outside help to talk to each other. But the Roots Session turned out to be exactly what we needed before a difficult conversation about caring for my grandmother. The coordinator made sure everyone spoke and everyone listened."

"Good experience overall. The coordination programme took a bit of time to build momentum β€” the first month felt slow. By month two though, we had a solid shared system for managing our children's school and activity schedules, which had always been chaotic. Worth it if you're patient."

Case Studies

Longer Stories

A closer look at how Hearthand's programmes have supported specific families through particular situations.

Case Study β€” Growing Together Workshop

A Blended Household Finding Its Rhythm

The Situation

Two parents, each with children from previous relationships, had recently moved in together in Kathu. Decision-making β€” even about weekday meals β€” was creating tension. Both felt unheard, and the children were picking up on it.

What Happened

The Growing Together Workshop gave the couple a structured way to map responsibilities and set up communication agreements. A shared household schedule was built during the day, with sections for both parents' working patterns and each child's commitments.

The Outcome

Within eight weeks, arguments about household tasks had reduced noticeably. The shared schedule became a reference point rather than a source of conflict. Both partners described feeling more like they were working together.

"We didn't need someone to tell us what to do β€” we needed someone to slow us down long enough to figure it out ourselves. That's exactly what the workshop did."

Case Study β€” Family Care Coordination Programme

Adult Siblings Coordinating Care for an Elderly Parent

The Situation

Three adult siblings living across Phuket and Phang Nga needed to share care duties for their father after a health event. Without a clear system, things were repeatedly falling through the gaps β€” appointments missed, medications uncertain, disagreements about who had done what.

What Happened

Over three months, the Family Care Coordination Programme helped the siblings build a shared contact book, a rotating responsibility schedule, and a simple weekly check-in format. The review sessions were held by video call to include the sibling in Phang Nga.

The Outcome

By the end of the programme, the siblings had a coordination system they ran independently. Medical appointments were tracked reliably. The family reported that the weekly check-ins had improved sibling communication beyond just care tasks β€” a benefit they hadn't anticipated.

"We came for help with our father's schedule. We left with a better relationship with each other."
